Welcome to the UHDB Medical Museum

The UHDB Medical Museum comprises of over 1,700 items that were discovered in storage rooms at the former Derbyshire Royal Infirmary site. We also have a large number of items that have been donated by wards, departments and members of the public. The Knowledge and Library Service have been custodians of the museum collection since 2008.
The collection comprises of objects from many past and present hospitals and healthcare settings in Derby, with significant collections from the following hospitals:

All of these hospitals were privately run by Committee's or Boards until they were absorbed by the National Health Service upon its formation on the 5th of July 1948.
