Palm
Arecacaceae
There are many variations of palms, and the most common houseplant varieties are the Areca Palm or "Bamboo Palm" and the Kentia Palm. Both have thin leaves extending out from long stems. Both are low maintenance and air purifying. We have a variety called Parlour Palm in the library: https://www.gardenersworld.com/house-plants/how-to-grow-parlour-palm/
They prefer moist, well draining soil and try not to let these dry out in between watering, but don't let them sit in soggy soil! They do have high nutrient needs so a slow release fertilizer (especially for palms) is best.
These plants like warmer temperatures and bright light, and it's important to get the positioning right. Too much light can scorch the fronds, too little and growth will be limited. Trim dried brown fronds (the Areca palm will shed theirs). Don't let them get too cold, and they like a bit of humidity. If it's too dry, the leaf tips will brown.
