The medical history collection of objects and archive material belonging to University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.
This collection of objects and archive material has been collected over many years and has been positively engaged with through projects which have demonstrated a need and interest in the collection, as well as the wellbeing impact for both the hospital staff and wider communities. There is no other collection similar to this in the region which charts our Hospitals’ heritage and its connection to the wider medical heritage through Florence Nightingale.
With the recent merger of Derby and Burton Hospitals and the Bicentenary anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale in 2020, this is the perfect time to catalogue this collection and create a coherent, accessible, properly maintained archive with a vibrant exhibition and events programme that can both reflect on this heritage and create a solid base to build upon to safeguard the future of the heritage of Derby & Burton Hospitals for everyone to benefit from.
