Students who are on a placement within the Trust are eligible for library membership. To register with us, you will need to fill in a registration form and present your student ID.
Students on a placement within the Trust will have membership for the duration of their placement. Please make sure that you return all books on loan to us before the end of your placement.
Once registered with us, you will receive an email containing login details of your library account with us, enabling you to check your outstanding loans and reserve and renew books online.
Please be aware that although we have service agreements with the University of Nottingham and University of Leicester, we are not a university library and operate on a different library system. You cannot return our books at the University of Nottingham libraries.
Access to the library
Please see our Covid Page for current opening hours and procedures during the coronavirus pandemic.
Student library members have access to all of the facilities within both libraries that staff members have. You can use our computers, photocopying and printing facilities, and can purchase print and photocopy cards from the library counters. Medical Students at Burton all receive 60 free printing credits. If you require any more then this is chargeable.
Students in Derby are able to book study rooms when available and access our WiFi or use "Eduroam".
University of Nottingham students also have access to University networked computers and a printer in the room at the front of the Derby library. You may also use the Trust computers and print services if you wish.
'Eduroam' is now accessible in the Derby Library. You will need to login with your university details.
University of Leicester students at Burton can access 'WifiSpark-MEC' in the Library.
Inter Library Loan Service
Students can access inter library loan provision through their own institution, as we do not provide an inter-library loan service for all students. Nottingham University students on placement can use our inter-library loan service, but this is limited to article requests only. Always check NUsearch first before submitting a request. Please note there is a £1 charge for articles.
In addition to the resources provided by their own institution, student members are also eligible for one of our OpenAthens accounts. You will need to register with an academic e-mail address (or a NHS e-mail for members of staff), and once you have your account set up, will have access to all of the electronic resources that we subscribe to. Please visit the OpenAthens page to find out more, or speak to a member of library staff.
