Inter-Library Loan Service
Although we have access to a great number of online and print journal articles, there are occasions where a user needs access to a paper that we don't subscribe to. In this instance we would apply for an Inter Library Loan.
If you know that the article is not available, by checking our online journal holdings, then you can apply for an inter-library loan by filling out a form or via our online system "Clio".
This service is available to Staff and University of Nottingham at Derby students. All other students must use their own institutional ILL service.
Clio is an online system for ordering articles and books through the Inter Library Loan system.
The process is very simple, firstly you would need to create an account and log in, which will take you through to the main page.
(You will need to be a member of the library in order to create an account.)
Here you can select on the menu bar whether you would like to order a book, article, view your requests or edit your personal details.
The form to order is very simple (see image). We require as much information as possible in order for us to source the correct item for you. You can also check our own holdings, to make sure that we don't already have in stock, the item you wish to request.
To visit Clio, please click on the button below. If you have any difficulties with the Inter Library Loan process, please contact a member of staff either on here via our contact page, or through the contact staff option on Clio.
Due to the current lockdown, we are unable to order any book loans from the British library. This is due to their staff working from home. We are still able to process requests for articles.
Nottingham University students on placement can use this service for articles only. Always check NUSearch first before submitting a request. There is a charge of £1.00 for article requests.
Once the item is available, you will receive an e-mail telling you to log into your Clio account, there you can retrieve the article, if available as a PDF, by using the specified password. Likewise, if you have ordered a book, you will receive an e-mail notifying you that it is in the library to collect.
