Access to the library during the COVID restrictions
RDH - 9am - 5pm / QHB - 8.30am - 4.30pm (4pm Friday)
Monday - Friday
No out of hours access.
We have had to make a few adjustments to our libraries while we are managing social distancing and opening for the first time since lockdown:
Access to the library is restricted to staff members and affiliated student members. You will be asked to present identification on arrival. NO EXTERNAL VISITORS.
Due to track and trace, we are required to take your name and e-mail as you enter the library. We will also ask about your visit here, what facilities you wish to use.
Please wait to be allocated to a place of work or a computer if you wish to be seated.
Please use gloves (provided) when browsing books. If you are unable to wear gloves, speak to a member of staff.
If you could also let us know when you leave, so the areas can be sterilised.
Also, masks must be worn at all times, and distancing observed.
Other aspects of our services are going to be affected by the measures put in place.
We are not currently taking cash payments, so refreshments from the library are not available.
We currently have no bookable rooms.
Books on return have to go into quarantine, therefore may not be available until 72 hours after they have returned. This will affect reservations.
You may request a book that is on loan to someone who is shielding, consequently, you may have a longer than normal wait on a book that you have requested. We will endeavour to fill your request as best we can.
Please note the location of an item you are requesting.
If the item is in quarantine, or not based in your home library then there will be an added delay in your request becoming available.
Update - 12/1/2021
We are currently unable to order any book loans from the British Library due to many of their staff working from home. We can still order articles and these can be requested in the usual way using Clio.
